DVR cards have all the same functions as VCR's but they have an added feature that allows you to pause live TV and continue watching without having missed any of the program. DVR is also different, because while VCR's use videocassettes to record and watch programs broadcast on television. DVR cards allow you to record data in digital format.

DVR Cards have two main functions, which are encode video data that stores data in a hard drive using MPEG-1 or MPEG 2 formats, and decode the TV signal coming from the wall in order for it to be shown on screen.

With DVR Cards you can store up to 35 hours of your favorite television programming shows. Satellite Television providers will offer you the change of recording TV shows without using videotape.
