Satellite Dish

Satellite TV Systems

What is a Satellite Dish? A satellite dish is a dish antenna, which is used to receive or transmit signals from orbiting satellites. There are many different sizes of satellite dishes. The newer, more modern satellite dish is 18 inches in diameter and is placed in a fixed position usually on the sides of houses.

What does a Satellite Dish do? The purpose of a satellite dish is to receive transmissions from the broadcasting stations. The distributors have dishes that receive the transmissions from the satellites, which are then redistributed from the distributors to the households. The dish you purchase should carry the brand name of the service provider, which will make it impossible to use a Dish network dish, and receive DirecTV programming.

How to install a satellite dish? First of all you will have to assemble the dish. After assembly, you will then mount your dish to the side of your house, or a solid surface. The platform that the dish is mounted to allows for movement of the dish in order to tune in the satellite signal. All the necessary tools required for setting up the dish are included with the dish. The owners manual should give you all the information needed for a successful set up of your dish, including the azimuth which is needed for the angular position along the horizon where you will need to point the dish.
